back home with the laughter of the neighbours<\/p>\n\n\n\n
who played backgammon through the night<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and the thunder of music<\/p>\n\n\n\n
flew from the tall branches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes I hear the moezen’s chants <\/p>\n\n\n\n
from the mosque nearby<\/p>\n\n\n\n
inviting the believers in,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
unaware that none is left in town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Should we return one day<\/p>\n\n\n\n
in a summer night<\/p>\n\n\n\n
what do you think has remained<\/p>\n\n\n\n
of the dreams we once had<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and then burnt in the chaos of nothingness?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
