Last night, the launch of Songs of Freedom
An anthology of Iranian and Afghan women poets. This was a collective work published by Afsana Press. Editors were Rouhi Shafii & Shirin Razavian with an introduction by Professor Shahrzad Mojab of Toronto University.

The kensington town hall was packed with lovers of poetry, especially Persian poetry in English. At the beginning and after a short introduction by Goran, the publisher, Rouhi Shafii & Shirin Razavian, editors of the book took to the stage and talked about the process of the work and its creation. Rouhi read a paragraph from the introduction and a poem from her work. Shirin read a beautiful piece about the creation of the book and one of her own poems. Then the poets went to the stage and read a piece from their work. A number of piets who have written come commendations for the book, Chrys Salt, Steven and few others talked about the book and its importance. Tara, the musician played harp beautifully and the session ended with book signing, wine and chat.
