Anniversary of a failed revolution
Iran passed the 45 years after a revolution that put an end to the 3,000 years of monarchy and established a republic. The people of Iran who overwhelmingly voted for the shift from monarchy to republic has high hopes of participating in the running of the country and taking it towards a more egalitarian and free state.
All hope soon turned into confusion, chaos and despair after Ayatollah Khomeini and his aides showed their true intentions and vision of a governance. AN ISLAMIC Regime based on his interpretation of Islam. Nothing more. Nothing less. He said!
Now, after 45 years of Islamic rule, Iran has become a country of corrupt politicians, mafia economic rule, violence against those who raise their voices against the state of the affairs and in verbal war against the whole world. What was gained during the Pahlavi rule has withered away and nothing viable replaced them.
In addition to all chaos, prisons are filled with innocent people and execution of innocent people for crimes they have not committed has become a norm. At present two women are in death row alongside a number of men. At the center of all chaos, the situation of women, who have been in war with this regime since day one is a different story of its own. Brave women of Iran have been fighting with the regime from the day Khomeini declared the Hejab for them, to this day. Wearing the compulsory Hejab is not just a cover over the head. It is a sign of subjugation and becoming second class citizens. Women have been fighting against the Hejab and succeeded in pushing back the state despite all the threats and the violence they are facing on daily basis.
on the 46 anniversary of this failed revolution, we are hoping that this regime will be gone and into the dustbin of history. We, the Iranian people deserve better than this and we are determined to put an end to the misery and humiliation, alienation and what is called the Islamic rule.
